YE Xingqian extends painterly gesture across porcelain and articulates it through multiple panels in space. More than furniture, the screen is a contemporary artwork to be approached, viewed from changing angles, and experienced in relation to a place.

YE Xingqian and the porcelain screen
YE Xingqian’s practice extends from ink, paper, and painting to sculpture, porcelain, and spatial works. The porcelain screen carries this cross-media inquiry into space: painting crosses multiple ceramic surfaces while the articulated structure moves the work between plane and volume.

The artwork in space
An artwork to live with in space
Opened or folded, the screen changes the rhythm of looking. It may form a permeable boundary, direct a view, or stand as an independent visual presence. Each angle recomposes painting, light, and the surrounding place.
Making process
From gesture to porcelain, from panel to screen
The work begins on each porcelain surface and continues in the studio through comparison, measurement, and adjustment. As the panels come together, the pictorial rhythm crosses their frames and becomes an artwork directed through space.
